Open Floor Embodied Movement Meditation/Conscious Dance
We meet to dance deeply into a soulful connection to ourselves, others and our community. Following our own bodies and Open Floor core movement resources, we enter a meditative journey of dance, using all styles of music from around the world. We do not all follow the movements of a teacher, nor is this an exercise class, though we definitely move and sweat a lot! We dance to become more conscious, more aware and more alive both on the dance floor and in our on-going lives. In addition, we dance to feel the powerful connection to the community of selves who also want to be awake and present. We dance to become more mindful and to let our dance inform our minds and our daily lives.
"Whatever you frequently think and ponder upon, that will become the inclination of your mind." Buddha
Open Floor Movement Practice is a lively, full-on dance inquiry:
- How can we move and include it all – feelings, other people, thoughts, wild passions, limitations?
- Can we use movement to soften the tight spots in our tender hearts and stretch our capacity for relationship?
- What happens if we turn old repetitive thoughts into choreography for creative dances?
No experience is needed. Join us at these regular community dances on Sunday mornings in beautiful West Hall, in the Oddfellows Building.
"In Open Floor, we teach love and everything that gets in the way of love." Lori Saltzman, Open Floor Founder
